MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Gonzaga women's tennis continued through some tough competition in the second day of the Gopher Invitational.
Tomorrow's rounds of doubles start at 9 a.m. and singles begin at 10:30 a.m. Central Time.
SINGLES
Junior Cate Broerman is currently undefeated in the draw, with a dominate 6-1, 6-4 win over South Dakota's Andrea Jansson.
Graduate student Frederikke Svarre also won her match for the day as she defeated Jana Lazerevic from South Dakota, 6-2, 6-3.
Senior Adrianna Sosnowska fell in two sets to Rachel Hanford, 6-3, 6-0. Junior Jenna Sloan had a three-set battle with Minnesota's Emilee Duong. Sloan won the first set 6-4, but then fell 6-7, 2-6, in the next sets.
Sophomore Kianna Oda also had a three-set victory over Drake's Mille Haagensen. Oda lost the first set 3-6, but won the next two sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Freshman Caroline Wernli also fell to Iowa State's Chie Kezuka 6-1, 6-0. Junior Maria Frampton had another three-set match, this time against UND's Lucia Rizza. Frampton lost the first set, 5-7, but won the second set, 6-1. In the third set, she fell, 2-6.
DOUBLES
Broerman and Sloan went undefeated on the day, picking up two victories with both scores being 6-3.
Sosnowska and Svarre paired together to win their match 7-5. Frampton and Wernli teamed up and fell, 6-2, in the first match. In the second round, the two fell 6-1.
Oda and sophomore Tiegan Aitken teamed up again and fell, 6-3, in the first round. In the second match, the two fell , 6-2.
