SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga volleyball Head Coach Diane Nelson announced the signing of Keau Kamakeeaina to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Bulldogs Tuesday afternoon. Kamakeeaina will join the Zags in the fall of 2021 after having spent the 2020 season at the College of Southern Idaho.

Keau Kamakeeaina | 5-10 | Setter | Laie, Hawaii | Kahuku High School | College of Southern Idaho

Kamakeeaina, who's 2020 fall season at CSI was canceled due to the COVID-19, was a standout setter at Kahuku High School in Kahuku, Hawaii. She was named the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) East Player of the Year in 2019 after helping Kahuku to an 11-4 overall record and an 11-3 mark in the OIA East league play.

That season, Kamakeeaina averaged 33.2 assists per match, finishing the season with 365 assists. She reached double-figure assists in every match that season, finishing with a season-high 55 assists against Moanalua on Sept. 12, 2019. The Laie, Hawaii, native added 59 digs on the season as well as 15 service aces. In addition to being named the OIA East Player of the Year Kamakeeaina was selected First Team All-State as well as #15 Fab 15 All-State.

Kamakeeaina was also a standout student, earning Honor Roll distinction every year as well as graduating with honors.

Why Kamakeeaina chose Gonzaga: "I chose Gonzaga because I visited the camp my Junior year and fell in love with the school, the program, the coaches, and the players. I also have family in Washington and I can't wait to compete at the next level while getting a high-level education."

Nelson on Kamakeeaina: "Keau is a perfect addition to our Zag family. She has an incredible work ethic, high standards and a competitive spirit. She will elevate our program immediately. I cannot wait to get her on the court at Gonzaga."
