SAN MATEO, Calif. — Gonzaga's
Brad Rickel was named the 2021 West Coast Conference Women's Golf Coach of the Year the league office announced Monday.
Quynn Duong,
Cassie Kim and
Mary Scott Wolfe were all selected All-Conference First Team.
The All-Conference team and major individual honors were voted on solely by the league's head coaches.
Rickel receives the honor for the fifth time, but the first since 2014. The 16-year Head Coach for the Bulldogs, earned the accolade in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Rickel guided GU to the program's first-ever WCC title Sunday. The Zags defeated Pepperdine on a second playoff hole to capture the dramatic win. Individually, Kim tied for the second in the WCC Championships, while Duong tied for fourth. Wolfe tied for 10
th.
Prior to winning the conference crown, Gonzaga took the team title at the Bobcat Spring Invitational. The Bulldogs placed in the Top-5 of all six tournaments they've played in this season, with five top three finishes.
Duong leads the team with a 73.35 season average. She has placed in the Top-10 in five of the six tournaments, with four Top-5 finishes. The junior carded the team's season-low round of 67 (-5) in the third round of the Red Rocks Invitational.
Wolfe and Kim both have a pair of Top-10 finishes this season. Wolfe's season average is 74.86, while Kim's is 75.06. Wolfe has a low round of 68, and Kim's low round in 2021 is 69.
