Women’s Basketball Earns Highest Ranking Ever in Latest USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll

Bulldogs move up one spot to No. 12

Week 14 AP Top 25 / USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll

SPOKANE, Wash. –
The Gonzaga women's basketball team continues to reach new heights as the Bulldogs moved up one spot to No. 12 in the latest USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll. It marks the highest ranking ever by a GU team in either the AP or Coaches polls; it surpasses the previous record of No. 13 that this season's squad reached in both the AP and USA Today/WBCA Coaches polls.

The Zags are also ranked 13th in this week's AP Poll.

Last week, Gonzaga picked up two road wins as it defeated Pacific 63-51 Thursday evening followed by a 66-52 win at Saint Mary's Saturday evening. The wins, coupled with a two-loss weekend for then No. 25 BYU, moved the Bulldogs into first place in the WCC standings with a 10-1 conference record; GU currently carries a 21-2 overall record. As of Tuesday, Gonzaga is one of only six teams in the nation with 21 wins on the season.

The Bulldogs will continue play on the road this week as they travel to Portland, Ore., to face Portland Saturday, Feb. 9 at 4:30 p.m.
